The course is designed to introduce students to the comparative analysis of public policy.

This course assesses key incentives and constraints that are inherent in the policy process and introduces to models that seeks to provide an analytical framework. Students will become familiar with pluralist and rational choice-based approaches to the study of public policy; they will acquire the analytical tools to analyse actors and their strategic behaviour the political process; and they will gain some experience in analysing the policy process from the inception of a new public policy issue to its implementation and review. The course draws on classical texts in comparative politics and public policy, and proceeds to explore current academic and political issues in the European public policy debates.
